Laura E. Nagy received her PhD in Nutrition in 1986 from the University of California Berkeley. She is currently a Professor of Molecular Medicine and Staff in Pathobiology and Gastroenterology at the Cleveland Clinic. She also holds adjunct Professor appointments at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University. She is Director of the Liver Disease Research Center and Vice Chair for External Affairs in the Lerner Research Institute. Dr. Nagy’s research program is in the area of signal transduction and innate immunity in non-alcoholic and alcoholic liver diseases. Her research has been continuously funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. Dr. Nagy recently received a MERIT award and is principal investigator for the Northeast Ohio Alcohol Research Center. Dr. Nagy is also Chair of the Medical Advisory Council for the Alcoholic Beverage Medical Research Foundation and the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Institutes of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse.
